Lent at Christ Lutheran 2012

God’s Work, Our Hands

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

Prayer of St Theresa of Avila
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
Yours are the hands with which Christ can bless the world.
Yours are the eyes with which Christ can shine compassion on a troubled world.
Yours are the feet with which Christ walks to do good.
Christ has no body but yours,
no hands, no feet, no eyes, on earth but yours.
-St. Teresa of Avila

Special Congregational Meeting Summary
We are Stepping Forward in Faith

On Sunday, September 25, 2011, 89 congregational voting members gathered to vote on proceeding with the proposed building project as presented by the Facility Task Force( FTF) with costs not to exceed $1,240,000.00. A ‘yes’ vote meant the Church Council (with advice from the FTF) has both the authority and the responsibility to oversee all phases of construction and financing.

President Mary Barber called the meeting to order and explained the process for the day. After discussion concerning financing and current architect drawings available, Esther LePage rose to share she was in favor of the project and that she was ready to vote. A second was heard, 74 members voted yes to move forward with the project 10 members voting no.

This yes votes means we will begin to secure financing for a construction loan and long term loan. The Architects will move forward with more detailed plans so that in December the project will be ready for bids. The building project includes a remodel of the current upstairs classrooms and the addition of two new classrooms, on the main level the courtyard will be covered to provide fellowship space, other areas (fireside, coffee room, nursery, library, bathrooms) reconfigured and a central stairs will move us visibly and easily between church levels.

This is a very exciting time. Please continue to feel free to ask questions and keep this project and the congregational leadership in your prayers.
